iphoto emailing of photo not functioning, recieve notice that my server is down ...which is not the case

I have tried repeatedly to get iphoto to complete delivery of emails with selected photos attached. However, I always get message that my server must be down, which is not so. It never completes the "sending" action. This had worked just fine previously. I have seen a suggestion of using Apple mail as sender but do not know where to find instructions on how to set this up, or what, exactly, it is. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), this has worked previously.

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it

OR

IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

Thank you, Larry HN. Deleting and re-entering info seems to have done the trick. I would still like to understand

the last part of your advice, that which reads "IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iphotos preference. Where does one find all the you need to enter in order to do this?

Again, many thanks.

Ah yes I had already tried this and know that using Mail works. I was just concerned that if using Mail I might have a problem when it comes to sending a book to Apple.

I find it very strange that iphoto will work on one computer and not another - even though I have not changed anything previously and it did work ok. Sometimes computers are a realy mystery to me.

Thanks for your help LN. Suppose will just have to wait and see when I compose a imac book and hope that I can send it.

Books do not use Mail in any way - they created a order file and send it to the Apple servers directly - not using email

and for the book

Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

as to theiPhoto mail issue - there was a recent post about Cloud mail changing servers and iPHoto not being able to follow the change so either finding the correct mail server from time to time and entering it or using Mail which does not seem to have that problem is necessary - I use mail so have no recent experience with the iPhoto email client
