I was tryin to use a gift card at the itunes store. My account was charged 19.99. Is there anyway for me to return the ibooks and have the charge put back in my account? This was my 1st purchanse and I did not realize I would not be given a choose of pmt.

You can't choose how items are billed - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5582 :

When making purchases, content credits are used first, followed by Gift Certificate, iTunes Card, or Allowance Account credits; your credit card or PayPal account is then charged for any remaining balance.

So if you have a balance on your account then that should be automatically used up before your credit card is charged for any remainder or additional purchases (unless you are gifting content, that can only be done via a credit card).

All purchases are considered final, but you can try the 'report a problem' link to contact iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you (these are user-to-user forums) : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
