why do i have to do so many steps to reset my password questions?

Why can't I just go in and reset my password questions when I can't remember them? Shouldn't it be as easy as loging in and able to change them without going through so many steps that aren't there to where you can't remember an to only not being able to email the support team when you can't remember?

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.

They are there for account security, to try and prevent other people making purchases on your account if they get your id and password.

You can go in and reset them if you had put a rescue email address on your account - the steps on the HT5312 page that you posted from will give you a reset link on it.

If you hadn't put a rescue email address on your account then you will need to contact Support in your country to get them reset : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699

When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then either add a rescue email address for potential future use, or if it's available in your country you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

why do i have to do so many steps to reset my password questions?
