I'm getting ready to be on the road, out of country for a month. What is the best way to download movies on my 64GB iPad, so I can play them during the 26 hour plane ride and long train rides where I won't have internet?

Do you wish to purchase or rent?
I want to just rent for now. I also want to rip or import DVD movies into my computer and then sync thru iTunes, but I worry the files will be too big. Thinking of using MPEGstreamclip to rip the videos and compress them to h.264 versions
The rentals are a little hairy because of the iTunes time constraints. You need to start each movie and watch for two seconds while you have Internet access so that iTunes can start the 24-hour timer. Then, you can watch the remainder at your leisure (with the Internet) but you have 24 hours to finish them.
Purchased or imported movies are easier - if they fit, you're good.
