The basic MacBook1.1 in this auction would require a retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD ($20) and an upgrade in RAM to the maxiumum this old 2006 (first edition) model can use, two - 1024MB RAM. Just to start.

Maximum Memory2.0 GB
Memory Slots2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM

And that would be it, regarding a hardware upgrade; no newer OS X can be run in it.

While a solid-state drive could make it run faster, there isn't much need to do so, without software and a purpose to upgrade this; basic web browsing and email, and other things would be about it, even with an SSD. For the cost to get and install the SSD, you could be looking for a 2009 MacBook5.2.

And some resellers include the operating system discs for the software they put inside. As well they should, because the disc is part of the license to have and use the software. And this vendor still includes software without the original installers. So, you can't reinstall anything. It ships with Tiger OS X 10.4, but no DVD; there are no current updated web browsers, for that vintage system. And w/1024MB (or 2- 512MB RAM) it would need more. Two matching chips.

Not recommended IMHO.

Good luck 🙂
