I am attempting to open a .mov file created on my imac on a PC with Windows 7. I can hear audio but there is no video. In Quicktime (or Windows Media Player) on the PC, if I go to "Movie Inspector," it shows the format as "Apple Intermediate Codec." I am guessing this may have something to do with it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

.mov is a Mac format.
Try converting it to an .mp4 or .avi file.

Hi - Thank you for responding as I know its only partially a Mac question.
I downloaded handbrake and selected a file as the "source." Then when i hit start its telling me I must 'scan a source' first. Do you know what that means? I tried the "help' button but it is fairly technical and i am NOT an expert by any means.
Again I am trying to convert a .mov file from my mac to a .mp4 on a windows pc.

I don't have a .mov file to try it on, but it works for .avi and .mkv files.

There is a version of QuickTime for windows. Installing it would save you having to do the conversion.
Frank, thanks for the reply. I have Quicktime 7.7.5 on the windows pc, but the .mov files from my mac that i try opening on the windows pc only plays the audio, no video.

How was the .mov file created? Was it on the Mac?
Frank, it was shot on a video camera then put on the Mac. The video plays fine on the Mac. But on the PC, audio only. I'm lost! Thanks for your help.

You'll probably need a separate utility to convert .mov file to Windows Media Video - .wmv
Have you tried VLC for Windows? It's free and opens practically everything.
