Thanks Allen,
Was able to get help from Apple as my phone was new purchase. My problem was with Microsoft - the install/ uninstall utility was not letting the older version of iTunes be taken off ( hence the reference to itunes64.msi ) using windows fixit downloads I was able to uninstall then download new version.
MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUni......NP.11831962615069890.1.1.Run.exe
1.2.Run.exe
As above. 1.3.Run.exe
1.6.Run.exe
1.7.Run.exe
The longer number prefix goes in front of each 1.1 1.2. 1.3 etc.
Doing this enabled me to download the new 11.1 version of iTunes I needed to sync my new iPhone.
I had sync'd my older phone to iTunes before moving my number over to the new phone but because of the Microsoft problem it did not save and my sync went back to an earlier restore point. It might therefore be worth checking you have a very recent restore point before moving over to the new phone and synching.
I appreciate you taking time to help Allen and hope my info is a help to others. This has taken hours and hours to resolve but the help from Apple live chat was very helpful in the end.
Thanks a lot
Fran
