Q: Airport Extreme and Uverse.

We use ATT uverse for Internet and TV.  Our set up is that we have a gateway 2wire modem that sends live internet/tv to all rooms in our house through cat 5 wire.  In our bedroom we use the Airport Extreme to connect devices with wifi.   So how this works is Gateway modem< live cat 5 wire<direct into Airport extreme.   In this setup the wifi works perfect.   The problem is when I plug the TV boxes into the 3 ports on the back of the Airport extreme.   Uverse Tv and boxes are run through Internet, so we are using the Airport Extreme as a switch and WIFI.   When we plug the boxes into the Airport Extreme the WIFI gets hung up.   It shows on devices that we have full bars for connectivity but will not load webpages or run any app's that require Internet.  The strange thing is that the TVS that run through the ports work perfectly.   If I unplug them from the Airport extreme, the WIFI starts working again.   I hope there is a simple solution to this.

    I had an ATT tech come out on his own time yesterday because he is a network geek as he said and wanted to fix the problem for his own good.   ATT wont help you because the router is not theirs so this guy did me a favor.  What he did to fix the problem is he ran another direct feed, one for the TVs and one for the Airport Extreme.  The Airport is now for WIFI only and works great.  He did say that ATT and Apple network products sometimes dont work well together, but this issue he thought was data transmission overload.   The Airport is not designed to handle three HD TVs and internet at same time.    He felt the WIFI shutting down when TV's were connected was its way of saying it is overloaded with capacity.  There is no science behind this, but it does make sense.   I am sure Apple would argue the contrary, but it is the most reasonable explanation we could come up with.
