How can I make screen resolution fixed?

I use Chrome Remote Desktop because BTMM doesn't work for me. (I've spent hours on the tech support line with senior techs, they can't provide a solution. Have tried EVERYTHING.)

CRD changes my screen resolution, which causes several other problems, such as app windows being moved so far off screen I can't drag them back.

The display I'm using is 24-inch, Late 2008 (1920 x 1200)

Is there any way I can tell the OS to ALWAYS use 1920 X 1200 resolution?

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

I've never used CRD, but on other Remote Desktop software there is usually a setting to deal with screen resolution displayed on the viewing machine. It would make sense that CRD is making the resolution change, rather than OS X itself, but it's possible that OS X is not handling the change in resolution gracefully.

Is the target machine a lower screen resolution that the viewer machine?

Do you go to full screen while viewing the target? What happens if you keep the target in a window?

The viewer machine is 27-inch (2560 x 1440).

The resolution CRD keeps insisting on is 1344 X 840.

There is no resolution preference setting with CRD.

I expect there must be a way to simply eliminate other resolution options, stopping CRD from switching.

I tried TeamViewer, it crashed immediately, so I lost faith and won't use it.

Has CRD reached "full product release" or is it still a beta? If remote desktops are a critical function for you, it would be best to buy a retail product that has better support; sometimes free stuff isn't easy, in terms of support and work at least 🙂

Remote desktop is a critical function for me and I thought I was buying a well supported product when I bought all-Apple. Apple computers, Apple routers, Apple monitors...

Back To My Mac won't make a reliable connection. I'm on Roadrunner on both machines. After hours on the phone with level 2 techs Apple tech support basically gave up and told me to buy something. I find that outrageous.

Use Teamviewer, it's free, at least you'll be rid of the Google crap.
