i cannot delete music from my ipad

Music>Songs>Select song>Swipe from right to left>Delete

These songs are not on your iPad; there's nothing to delete.

Go to settings, iTunes & App Store: Under the heading "Show All", turn the slider off for music (and videos if you like). That will hide content that is in your purchase history in the cloud, and not on your device.

Mine was crazy because I ad duplicate songs that wouldn't go away. I had to unsync every song but there were still songs on my iPad (not iCloud ones either). So then I had to go into settings, general, usage, and then music and delete the last few songs that would go away so then there was absolutely no music on it. Then I resyncd my songs back onto my iPad from my computer and I no longer had duplicate songs. Keep in mind the duplicates were not the iCloud ones either. Weird.

That's exactly the same problem I'm having! Swiping has no effect except the song starts playing. And at least in my case, the song is not playing from the cloud because even with the iPad set to "airplane" mode, and no internet connection of any sort (therefore no cloud access) the songs STILL play, and still cannot be deleted.
