Similar situation, my wi-fi printer has been operating perfectly on my home network (3 pc's 1 imac phones ) until Saturday 03/30/2014. But only the imac, everything else comunicates normally, prints, etc. I've completed the littany of tasks to re-establish the Imac/printer( BrotherHL2280DW) comunication link with nil success. Suggestions are welcome but please don't tell to check the toner or turn it off/on etc. I have OS X 10.8.5 still running and seeing how many Maverick upgrades are having similar issues I can wait.

OK so ; System Preferences>Print and Scan>add printer>select ip option>enter printer ip address.

iMac couldn't find my printer so give it an address.
