Migration assistant NEW MAC BOOK

Hey everyone. So I got the new Mac Book Pro yesterday and want to transfer my files from my old mac over using migration assistant. on the new comp I get as far as the code coming up so type onto the old one but it just spins and doesnt give me anywhere to type it? Any advice? Its driving me mad lol 😉

How do you have the two Macs connected?

What model Mac is the "source' and what OSX is installed in it. Is that OSX the most recent version?
