WIN 8.1 ITUNES does not recognize Ipod Touch

I am using WIN 8.1. ITUNES v 11.1.5.5 does not recognize my Ipod Touch when I plug it into USB. WIN 8.1 recognizes it in Device Manager. It claimes it is using the latest device driver. I click on Devices in ITUNES and all options are greyed-out.

It used to recognize it before. I used to "sync" it with OUTLOOK 2007 many times in the past.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. I tried all suggestion in ITUNES HELP to no avail.

See

- I would start with

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- New cable and different USB port

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
