Frozen Images on Screen

Hi,

I think I had this problem when I updated to 10.9.2

I have been re-occurring problem with the image stuck on screen. Its like a hidden window. when I open a movie player, dashboard, launch pad, Office, Photoshop - the annoying image is there behind everything.

I do not know if this is a stuck pixel or what. I also found other people with this problem with no solution links in them. Let me know if this is OS bug or there is a problem with my screen.

I could not take a screen shot of since I think it is not actually recognized as to be on the screen. but it is there.

Thank you HELP!

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Maybe try resetting your SMC?

Resetting the SMC of an Intel-based Mac Pro, iMac, Mac mini, or Xserve

Note: This will not delete any data.

The SMC is responsible for controlling various system functions. None of your data will be deleted by resetting the SMC.

Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…

Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.

Unplug the computer’s power cord.

Wait fifteen seconds.

Attach the computer’s power cord.

Wait five seconds and then press the power button to turn on the computer.

I hope I helped.

I'm sorry too. Kappy just accused me of copying his posts and I even posted screenshots of Time Machine and versions to prove that I wrote the instructions myself and everything and now he's going to the hosts and I didn't do anything. I wrote my instructions myself.

On a related note, is it okay to just leave the settings to default for turning off the display? I have it set to the default (2 mins) and I wanted to know if that might cause screen burn.

EDIT: I'm sorry, I meant image persistence.

Also PRAM could be useful.

Command + Option + P + R while starting up intil you hear the chime happen a second time. Then let go of keys.

Also if you have a recovery partition boot to it to check for that image persistence.

Holding just Command + R to boot to recovery.

Play around with Disk Utility to Verify the Disk

Also launch get help online and see if you are getting any persistence.

If yes while in recovery go to Apple Store you need a repair.

If no try safebooting, holding Shift during startup til you get the progress bar.

Test again.

Hi guys thank you for all your help.

Shutting the computer down helped but if I reboot it too quickly the image would still be there.

But I can't keep shutting down because I have work to finish. It keeps re-ocurring maybe after 5 hours continuous use. Any suggestion?

Or should I bring this to the store?

Thank you! Really appreciate your help.
