Hi, my parents have asked me to put a restriction on my sisters IPhone 4 (ios7) as she has very limited data on her phone plan.
I have tried going through general > restrictions and putting 'do not allow changes' for cellular data use, but when i go to test it, cellular data turns on fine without any issue?
Was wondering why this is happening and if there's a fix??

first go to settings/cellular and turn cellar data off then go to settings/general/restrictions and tick don't allow changes. That way cellulr data cannot be use for anything as it cannot be turned on without the resitrictions password which you will need to remember. make sure in settings/cellular you turn off what you do not want data to be used for in "use cellular data for" when you first go into cellular data

Cellular data was turned off when i enabled the 'dont allow changes' option and restrictions are enabled.
Yet i can still turn it on by going settings/cellular then turning it on. Any idea why?
Yes you can still turn cellular data on/off but scroll down a little to the section headed "Use cellular data for" and you will see them all greyed out if you have disabled changes in restrictions
so in the use cellular data for you set which apps are going to be allowed to use cellular data (if any) and then in restrictions you tick don't allow changes in cellular data use
Ah yeah i understand,
although when i tested it again i can just enable the 'use cellular data for' apps anyway without any trouble?
on my phone once I enable restrictions and tick dont allow all the apps in settings/cellular/ use cellular data for are greyed out and I cant change the switches

no I did not set up another account. All I did was leave the switches in used celluar data where they were and then I went into restrictions in Cellular data use and and ticked dont allow changes. then when I went back to settings/cellular/use cellular data for all the switches were grey and could not be changed
i might have to do a factory reset as its not working,
ive also noticed youtube keeps turning its cellular data usage on..
bummer... all I can say is I have tried it on my ip5 and it works for me. Before you do a restore try
RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).
then try again see if it helps
Tried that, it reset by itself like 10 times after that haha, this iphone definitely has issues. thanks for the help anyway 🙂
