The title says it all - when trying to open an existing library on external disk FCPX quits.

Close FCP X then open again holding the Option key.
This allows you you to select another Library.
If another one opens OK then something is corrupt inside the problem one.
Try a backup.
Al
thanks Alchroma, I'll try that.
innocentius I tried that too but had to use the application sooner or later.
btw it's the latest fcpx whatever its number is, y'know, the version that uses libraries unlike the previous versions.
Do you have multiple events in the problem library?
Russ
not necessarily - and it will do it even if you create a new library, close it, and try to open it again. With no events in it. Seems to be replicable on any external HD, tried the G-Raid and Lacie SSD, same result.
Reason for asking about events was to determine whether we could identify one that was corrupt. It doesn't seem like that is the cause of your issue after all. You specially mention external drives. Does that mean that libraries on your boot drive work as expected?
Russ
Are the external drives formatted to Mac OS Extended?
Al
I have not dared close the two libraries that I work with all the time (one is on the internal HD). I have fcpx libraries on a few other externals, all Mac OS extended.
No one else has found this? To replicate I just plugged in a generic WD usb3 , created a library, closed it, and tried to open it again. Bing0 fcpx crashed. As mentioned I did the same with Lacie SSD. Computer is the latest model iMac, fusion etc.
