I have recently changed to an iMac from a Windows PC. How do I delete files and reformat the memory card in my helmetcam?

It would help to know the model number to find out the exact card type and system compatibility.
It is a very basic camera which I wear on my cycle helmet. Dog Cam Bullet HD which holds a micro memory card. On Windows you can easily delete and reformat the card. I can view the recordings but can't do anything else.
Assuming you already have a Micro-SD reader for your Mac, Disk Utility can reformat it pretty much any format you desire. Note NTFS writable is not available on the Mac built-in.
I do not have a Micro-SD reader I just plug the camera and disc into a USB port. What is Disk Utility?
I have made some progress. I have learnt how to transfer the videos to iPhoto and delete them from there. I have the card showing as 'remote disk' on Utilities but still can't see how to reformat the card.
The card can be deleted, partitioned and/or formatted using disk utility (Utilities)
Why do you want to format the card?
OK I have worked it out and managed to reformat the card. One thing that is definitely easier on a PC!
If you return the memory card to the helmetcam, it may choose to reformat it before use; back to some FAT-16 or FAT-32 format many of these third-party cards and cameras use. Unless you were going to use it for Mac OS X and format it with HFS+ or in a partition map for Mac data, etc.
If not, the easiest way to reformat the card may have been in the camera itself. I've formatted several kinds of camera cards, drives, USB flash drive, and others. The means varies with the intended purpose. Sometimes the default is the best; since it is platform neutral if the device is seen by both players.
