Q: Delete iBooks from ALL devices + the cloud?

This help page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772 supposedly tells how to delete books from Mac computers and iPads. But it's from May 2013, and what it says to do doesn't work. Are there any updated directions for March 2014?

Which part isn't working ? You can delete a downloaded ibook from the iBooks app on a device via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf in the app. To delete an ibook from the Books part of your Mac's library select the book and press the Delete button on your keyboard. You need to delete the book from each device/computer that it's on, deleting it from one won't also delete from any other device/computer that it's on/

You can't permanently delete any item from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them via your computer's iTunes so that they don't show in the Purchased links for redownloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919

Both parts aren't working. I delete a book from my iPad and when I open up the iBooks again it's back on the shelf.

I can't get the Mac to delete it at all.

The support document you supplied stymies me at step 4:

    1. Click Purchased from the Quick Links section  on the right side of the iTunes Store.

Can't find any "Quick Links" section in the store window, and I pressed every button I could find.

    Any more ideas, please?

    Thanks.

Does the book that you are trying to delete have a cloud icon on it ? On your iPad you can turn off the showing of books that are only in the cloud via Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'off' ; and on your Mac you can do similar by making sure that the 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' tickbox on the Store tab in iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) is unticked.

On the right-hand side of the homepage on your computer's iTunes i.e. with the 'house' icon selected at the top of the store screen

you should see something like :

    quicklink.jpg

Selecting Purchased from there should then give a screen with the different content types that you can download in your country : select Books on that, move your mouse pointer over the book that you want to hide and it should get 'x' on its top left corner - click that to hide it.

OK, thanks. Got the things off my computer's bookshelf for now. I'll get to the iPads when I can.

    Thank you for your help.
