Thanks for the reply. This might help, but I would like the kid to be able to play games (not just one game). So that I don't have to keep changing the guided access app. Nosy girlfriends also get into my phone's email among other apps. The girlfriend asks to use the phone to call someone since theirs is not working and then one thing leads to another and they are checking your email, etc.

I would like Apple to address this with something other than just allowing one app at a time.

I was told by the sales man when I bought the phone that I could lock down apps. I would be very surprised if I am the only one with this issue.

They why do they have restrictions in the first place for other apps?

We don't know why Apple has chosen to offer restrictions on some apps and not others. You can comment to them here, if you wish:

Otherwise, there is as has been said no way to restrict Mail. You can look for a third-party mail app that offers passwording - there are at least one or two that support multiple users - or you can just use a web interface to your mail.

That seems like a lot of work, logging in every time. I can't live without the notifications either. I appreciate the workaround, but it's too slow. I also use the phone for work email and there is no way to get work email in the browser. A simple four digit numerical passcode would solve this. It needs to be quick enough to use and complex enough for someone temporarily using your phone not to be able to guess. The kid and my girlfriend are constantly borrowing my phone for things, it had become a real problem. They would want to look something up online or use the phone to call someone or to play the games, since they were in the IOS, they could access everything, including email.

It's not just hiding the emails, either, the toddler presses lots of stuff on the phone and does things by mistake like deleting my emails.
