Using many phone numbers on iPhone

My children kindly gave me their old iphone which was locked to vodaphone. Vodaphone unlocked it and I put in a lebara sim for the duration of my UK stay. After that I will go to sweden and then to Greece I have a pay as you go sim for each country.

My question is if I change the sim what will happen to all the details I have put in ipad and iPhone so that I can do FaceTime and iMessage. Will I be able to add my new phone details so that the kids can reach me every time I change sim. I can't see an edit option for changing phone numbers. I clicked on a question it asked when's opened my ipad and now I think the new phone is in ipad as well. Confused!

It's going to be very complicated I am sure so any help or ideas will be much appreciated.

facetime and imessage don't require a sim card they work over wifi too

sim cards each have their own number transfering the number when you change carrier takes weeks in most places

simc locked phones can never use other sim cards then one from the carrier they are sim locked with

only the carrier can unlock the phone

you can use your vodophone sim card in the rest of europe well likely the rest of the world this is called roaming

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaming

the eu is working on removing the extra cost of roaming in other eu countries

Any contacts and other information will remain on the iPad and iPhone. I suspect your phone number will change each time.

If you set up messages and face time to send and receive with your email address/ Apple ID rather than a phone number, it will allow your family to reach you no matter what phone number your SIM card determines you use.

As long as your family has your email address and phone number, they will get a message updating your phone number for iMessage and FaceTime with each SIM card change.

You don't need to remove the phone number from the iPad, but you can check the email and uncheck phone number by going to

Settings

Messages/FaceTime

Send and receive

Happy to help, have a safe journey.

All my sim cards are prepaid. In sweden I use conviq and in Greece I use Q. Here in uk I am using Lebara. They all have their own number, and they switch to roaming when I land In the next country at which time I change to a local sim.

I like the idea of just using my email, that might be the best answer. How confusing my life is with kids all over the place.

Many thanks for the efforts and answers...I will be back for sure with more questions. Cheers.
