cannot update or use Maverick

I accidentally erased my computer ...arrrrgggh! . I have since reloaded snow leopard which I had no success until I partitioned the hard drive.

I then tried updated software, I wanted to return to using Maverick so I tried to download Maverick from the app store...this is where its all going wrong again.

I have currently got OS 10.6.8 and it will not let me upgrade from there. To get pages etc working I need to have newer updates however it does not want to update me.I have got the maverick icon on my bottom tray and its states it is paused. but I cannot get it to "unpausea' pleasae can so,e one help me.

I gad all of this operating prior to being erased ...just my computer was running slow. so was verifying permissions and disk when it went all haywire and didnt notice i was on the wrong tab.
