Problem setting up Mail account,

My wife has used Mail on her Mac with a Gmail address. When I went into her computer, by mistake I opened a Gmail account, so her mail now goes to that account instead of Mail. She wants her Mail account back, but my attempts to have Mail operate for her mail have failed.

First I tried to open a Mail account in iCloud, but in Account Information the Incoming Mail Server is greyed. It says "P13-imap.mail.me.com" In that account, she can send mail but cannot receive it. How can I insert an incoming mail server? What do I put there?

Then I tried to open a new Mail account. I went through the process, but what opened was a Gmail mail account, not a Mail account. How do I get rid of the Gmail account and open a Mail account?

Help will be much appreciated.

I went into to System Preferences < Mail, Contacts etc and deleted Gmail. Then I tried to set up the mail account manually, but when I put in the e-mailaddress and password, I received a message as shown here. So I could go no further. The problem seems to be to get rid of Gmail.

POP3 Server (Incoming Messages)	pop.gmail.com	SSL	995
Please make sure, that POP3 access is enabled in the account settings. Login to your account and enable POP3.

I am sorry to be so thick, but I can't see how to enable POP3. I went to Mail, Preferences, Accounts but it wasn't there. I went to System Preferences, Internet accounts, but its not there. I did a Google search, How to enable POP3 but that didn't help. Can you please tell me.

First, is your mail account POP or IMAP? I am providing a link to a search result for how to setup Mail to use a GMail account. I suggest you choose a link at a time looking for one that is simple enough to help you.

I have tried that. I get the message set out in my message before last. When I press Continue, I just get the same message. As I said, the problem seems to be to get rid of the Gmail account.
