Q: How can I install more GB to my Mac? I now have only 1 GB and need at least 2 in order to install the new application needed.

I need to upgrade my Mac to at least 2 GB or more, how can I do this?

iMac (20-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Click here for information, and then buy the RAM from a vendor such as OWC or Crucial.

Apple say's 4GB for an Early 2008, see > iMac: How to remove or install memory

However, > OWC macsales.com has tested their 6GB kit in that model.

For what it's worth, Mavericks will really run better with 6GB than 4GB.
