Hi, just purchased this macbook pro 2011, it says os x 10.6.8, how do i know if it has OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed ?

The OS version should be clearly displayed in the dialog that comes up when you click on "About This Mac" under the Apple menu. If it says "OS X 10.6.8", then that is Snow Leopard. If you want to upgrade to Mavericks, then you can download it from the Mac App Store for free.
