Q: Unlocking iPhone 4s

I bought an iPhone 4s from the Apple store with vodafone as the network provider, the contract has come to an end and I no longer wish to use vodafone. I have contacted them on numerous occasions and completed the online forms to request a nuc code but now they tell me as I bought the phone at the Apple store they are unable to unlock and I have to ask Apple to unlock. Please can anybody clarify who is responsible for providing the unlock code? Many thanks

Unless you bought an unlocked phone from Apple then only the carrier/cell network provider can unlock the phone. This is something all carriers/cell network providers do know:

If whomever you're speaking to at Vodafone is saying something different then ask to speak to the organ grinder rather than the monkey.
