Pages problems after installing Mavericks OS

After in upgrading to Mavericks OS, I am having issues with Pages application. I can successfully insert a hyperlink in a document, however when I insert a url that includes a pdf it occasionally will not take or accept it. Two urls can be almost identical but for some reason one consistently is rejected. Has anyone had a similar issue, or know how to resolve? I thought that maybe the conflict is the inclusion of the character "®" in the URL, but both urls include it.

For example, this link can be inserted successfully:

http://www.heatsavershades.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Weather_HeatSaver%C2%A E_Testing_Data_02_06_to_02_20_14.pdf

This does not:

http://www.heatsavershades.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Weather_HeatSaver%C2%A E_Testing_Data_03_09_to_03_22_14.pdf

I did notice that "HeatSaver®" became "HeatSaver%C2%AE" when I pasted the urls above, but the first one works nevertheless, and you can see it is almost identical except for sequence of dates at ends of urls.

Anyone have a clue?

Thank you!

Other OS, Mavericks OS

Use Tinyurl for messed up URLs. Odd characters like these can also mess up e-mail programs. http://www.tinyurl.com/

I suggest the author of the said website stick to known URL conventions, and doesn't use special characters in their file naming.
