IPhone 5 on IOS 7.1, email issues.

HI I have an IPone 5 on IOS7.1, updated the carrier settings after being prompted to last night and the email app will now no longer open it just pops in and straight out again. Have tried deleting and re-adding the account but nothing has worked, also tried a soft reset. Trying to avaoid having to do a backup and restore.
