Q: ipad  wifi 3g

I have the first ipad bought in the Autumn of 2010 IOS 5.1.1

I have progressively found that I can no longer use apps that I have been happily using or download new apps as they request updating the update fails with no reason given or reason given that the iOS should be updated to 7.

I am correct in thinking that this ipad model you can no longer update the iOS?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

yes, the latest ios the original pad can support is 5.1.1.

Some apps in the store will run fine on it.  Others rely on the changes to ios that have occurred since.

If an app has been updated, and no longer works, if Apple still has the old version, it may be available.  On a computer (I dont know if this works on the pad itself), go to the appstore and attempt to downlaod the app that has been updated.  When it regognizes that you have the old pad, it will ask you if you want the older version, then you can sync that back to your pad.
