Games/apps not working

I bought a few games from the App Store including Batman Arkham City and Dirt 2 but every time I try to load or hit a certain point in the game, it crashes. This is consistent with many games, not just these two. Is there something wrong with my Macbook Pro or is it more a problem of the game-makers/producers?
