An apple genius told me there was water damage in my iPhone 5 today which was the cause of the problems I am experiencing and suggested I pay £209 to replace it, I have since checked the LCI and it shows no sign of water contact. Why are they lying???

After opening the sim holder and using a light and a magnifying glass to inspect properly the liquid contact indicator it was still perfectly white without a spot of red. Why did the Apple genius lie to me and try to make me pay for a replacement phone when mine is under warranty and is experiencing an intermittent internal fault.the fault I am experiencing is the phone not recognising the SIM card every so often. It is fixed temporarily buly switching off and on again or removing and reinserting the sim.

My iPhone is up to date with the latest software and runs fine apart from this fault.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1

There is more than one LI sensor. In any case, there's no way for anyone but that genius to answer your question. Why didn't you ask him when you were there?

Hi Paul,

Where are the others located and do you have to open the phone to see them? I didn't ask because I trusted the apple genius to be telling the truth, although I was confused as to how the water damage would have occurred. This is why I checked when I returned home and couldn't find any sign of water contact.
