what is the reason for not being able to connect to the Apple store. I want to download Mavericks.

want to update to Mavericks but get the message: can't connect to App store. What can I do?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Go to your User Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.


Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.


If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
