SuperDrive USB Apple

Hello, could you please explain how to make a APPLE USB SUPERDRIVE work with a computer that has a built-in opitcal drive?

I have a Mac Mini 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo (early/late 2006) with internal superdrive (MATSHITACD-RW CW-8124 ), and I would like to use the external Apple USB Superdrive as well.

Thanks.

Thanks for your replies.

I have several Desktop Optical Drives:

LaCie (design by Porsche and d2)

OWC with BluRay

Freecom DVD RW Recorder LS Pro (20x)

I'm producing a series of CD, and I need to read ISRC codes.

The only drive that can read ISRC codes correctly is the Mac Mini internal DVD drive (MATSHITACD-RW CW-8124 ), the external Apple USB Superdrive (according to the International ISRC Agency), and the external FREECOM drive (I have tested it, but the CD must be written with the same drive, the FREECOM).

LaCie and OWC can not read ISRC correctly.

They are not compatible with ISRC codes.

Since it is umconfortable to insert CD in the internal Mac Mini drive, I was thinking about the external Apple USB Superdrive.

That being said, if you would like to test the LG GE24LU20 ability to read ISRC codes, please do the following.

1) insert a CD audio with ISRC codes in the LG drive.

2) open the TERMINAL application

3) write this string without quotes:

"drutil subchannel | grep ISRC"

4) press enter

5) wait a few minutes and the ISRC codes will be displayed.

ISRC codes can be aso read with TOAST 11 > disc infos.

Please find attached a few exaples of correct and incorrect ISRC codes, plus the International ISRC Agency notice.

Thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to test the LG GE24LU20 Optical Drive.

Now I know for sure that it can read ISRC codes correctly!

I'll try to buy an used LG on eBay.

As stated in my previous message, I'm producing a series of CD.

I'm burning the master CD with Tost 11 inserting the CD title, track titles, EAN bar code, and my ISRC codes for each track.

Before I send the master CD to the factory for glass master replication, I need to make sure the EAN bar code and the ISRC codes are successfully included in the master CD.

That's why I need an Optical Drive able to read master's ISRCs correctly.

Using 2 or 3 different Optical Drives I can make sufficient tests.

Once again thank you.
