Why did all my GarageBand files completely disappear?

There really are no details to be given—all I know is I got all set to finish recording a song, and when I opened GarageBand, everything had disappeared. The only projects I can find are some really old ones that I had put in their own little folder. Everything I've been working on for the past few months are gone. There's no sign of anything that could possibly have caused this. Even the folders they were in are gone. Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

Have you searched your Mac with Spotlight?

Type .band into the Spotlight search field and select the option "Show all in Finder".

Does that find more projects? Just to be sure- you remembered to check your Trash bin, right?

Where did you store your projects? On an external drive or on your system drive? What happened, before your projects vanished? Did you install new software? Upgrade software? Run any maintainance programs, like Cleaning apps?
