If the display has ADC (Apple Display Connector)

you will need the Apple DVI to ADC Display Adapter.

You can connect this to the MacBook Pro's HDMI port with a HDMI to DVI adapter, such as

or to a Mini DisplayPort Thunderbolt port with a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter
