What speaks even louder is that Apple can't be bothered telling you, because you are only a "user".

Apr 16, 2014 2:30 PMby The Pod Guy,Images placed using the menu item Insert > Choose (shift-cmd-V) will place the image as an inline image with the anchor at the insertion point. Then set the Text Wrap to Inline with text for Pages '09 behavior. Automatic is the default paste attibute.
Also, images can be pasted or dragged anywhere on a page in a word processing document, and the image anchor will go at the insertion point. Then just set the Text Wrap to Inline. If no insertion point is active on the page, the image will paste as floating (Stay on Page).
Once formatted as Move with Text, whether as Inline, Automatic, Around, etc., copying or pasting the image elsewhere in a document retains this attribute.

You still need to drag it onto the document:
Format > Arrange > Move with Text > Text Wrap > Inline with Text
A multi-step process with concealed steps.

Sorry for not quoting, just a followup on the thread post a couple weeks ago. Just want to say been pasting images into docs at insertion point without difficulty.

Apr 17, 2014 3:25 AMby papalapapp,Peter, I think "vendetta" is a bit harsh. The last update shows me that they aren't ignorant or don't "don't care".
Anyone who has some experience in software development knows how complex it is to craft a well working program with as little bugs as the iWork apps. From my side they get a lot of respect for what they have achieved so far.
The better an app is, the more annoying are these little details, like one or two steps more or less to place an image.
But my overall opinion is that it basically works flawlessly despite some needed features are missing. We all know that even Apple doesn't always get it right at the first shot. Give them a chance to improve. One or two such updates and I see me switching to the new version.
Until then I'll continue to submit feedback and try to be clear, constructive and polite. My experience shows me that they do take that seriously.

The extra steps to place an image is only one of countless procedures in Pages 5 that have got the same clumsy and inept treatment.
Apple had the choice to openly introduce new Pages, Numbers and Keynote, fully informing their users what exactly they were doing and laying out their plans to transition eventually to a new suite without harming exist users' work and leaving users with complete access to the suite of software they had paid for.
Instead it was underhanded to the point even its own staff did not know what was going on.
I find it difficult to take seriously a software developer that:
1. Doesn't apparently test their products before releasing it
2. Overwrites files without warning
3. Knowingly damaged opened files and then auto-saved them
4. Claims new software is a huge improvement when by every known measure it is a huge downgrade
5. Beta tests their software on its users but doesn't tell them that is what it is doing
6. Auto replaces users software behind their backs
7. Moves previous versions of the software to a new undisclosed location but doesn't tell its users, or even apparently its own staff
8. Doesn't support its file formats long term. Even the file versions of the new minor version upgrades are not backwardly compatible within the minor versions
9. Doesn't demarcate the different and incompatible file versions with different file extensions
10. Doesn't communicate with its users what its intentions are
That Apple has replaced a few of the extremely long list of features it removed unannounced, and taken over 6 months to do so is not impressive at all.
The only thing that impresses me is just how little users actually seem to comprehend about software they claim to use daily and over long periods of time.

The linked text box function does not work in 5.2 either. I have some multi-page documents that I wish to update from an earlier Pages version. This should be seemless, easy, a piece of cake. Why has Apple made such a hash of this? They do themselves much harm by releasing any "new" or update that doesn't improve or at least maintain the function for the previous versions. One should not have to find work arounds for shoddy programming. It seems that whoever is developing Pages doesn't know squat about advanced page layout functions that have been available to the publishing industry for years. If they want to put out a fluffy version of MS Word, at least acknowledge that this is the intent. No one should lose content or have fromatting problems from any older version of Pages to the latest and greatest or be warned not to use this for any business format that one uses to actually earn an living.

Jun 11, 2014 9:41 AMby mattymatt111,Ya, I think I'll stay with 4.3. If I were a betting man, I would say that they haven't made this a top priority. And sufficient evidence would be seeing a small team of people "improving" iWork. "Upgrading" to 5 caused issues for me, and left a lot out that I wanted (very small details for most, probably). Thankfully there was a way to install 4.3 back onto my computer and remove 5 completely. Unfortunately, now the App Store haunts me daily to let me know that 5.2 is ready for install.

I appear to be in a Page Layout Catch-22- fortunately I have two workarounds (albeit painful) for the problem described below.
Workaround #1- Go back to Pages 9
Workaround #2- Print to PDF from Pages 5.2, then use Preview to print my document.
The problem:
I print my own 5x7 cards, front and back, so the page size I had on Mountain Lion and Pages 09 is actually 7x10 (the Printer can't feed the other way-10x7). Unfortunately, Apple gave up WYSIWYG long ago and I found with testing that I had to set Page Size to my own custom 7x10, and Page orientation to landscape to make it all work. ( I could not rely on the Preview in the Pages dialog box)
I just recently upgraded to OSx10.9. Now, in Pages 5.2 there seems to be a conflict between the Page Size (found under the File Menu) and the Document Format in the inspector which has the new simplified look.
There are 3 variables, and I haven't been able to get any of the 9 combinations to keep my previous content on the card. It keeps getting cut off. I even tried some combinations that had a bad preview. I suspect I could make an entirely new card and get it to work, but I have at least 50 cards already made so I'll have to use the workaround for those.
Has anyone else had this problem? The three variables that I've found and tried to manipulate are:
1) File Menu Page Size
2) File Menu Page Orientation
3) Inspector, Document Format Page Orientation
I appologize if this is a repeat. I did try searching and reading through all the pages posts before posting
