I have a Canon Powershot G16 that shoots RAW images but puts them in a .CR2 format. I am trying to determine if Aperture definitely will read this type of file or not. Can anyone tell me if it will? Thanks.

The raw format of the Canon Powershot G16 is on the list of supported cameras, see: http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html, but with the footnote
*** Requires Aperture 3.4 or later.
You will have to upgrade your MacOS X version to at least MacOS X (10.7.5), to be able to run Aperture 3.4, and to MacOS X 10.9.2 , to be able to buy the latest Aperture 3.5.1 from the AppStore.
Keep in mind that the ability to decode a Raw file is not based on the file extension but on the camera that produced it.
When checking to see if you can use Aperture it is important to check to see if the camera is supported not the file extension.
