Safari 7.0.2 changes web colors (slightly darker) compared with Chrome and other browsers

I am shocked that Safari 7.0.2 slightly changes css defined colors on my webpage. Colors with # are very consistent between all other browsers, but Safari makes them slightly darker (and gradients are rendered less fluidly). In my example the grey tone is defined as #787878 and one can see the results differ Anyone with same experiences?

This could be due to Safari extensions or third party plug-ins ...

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Oh, think I found the reason. It is that I worked with a custom color profile on my IMac. If I switch to the standard (which I don’t like:-() the differences are gone over browsers and the screenshot shows the right hex value. This means that Safari does apply the profile to change css colors, while others as Chrome don’t? A little confusing for me. Nevertheless css gradients in Safari still look worse than in Chrome or Firefox.

2 pics, Chrome first. Both with profile iMac

Really bad in my own (lighter) profile (for iMac definitely is too dark and high in contrast!). Again Chrome (and ALL others) first.
