how to get clips to imovie from VIDEO in ipad??

If I remember right I connect iPad to Mac and can get the movies from iTune or iPhoto to be imported into iMovie.
It's far from straight forward and easy - but can be done.

my clips r already in ipad in video folder. now to make a movie i cant get them to imovie, how to get it ? i got clips frm itunes to ipad but they lodged in Home Video within Video folder in ipad. they are not in camera roll or library.
Just tested
I Import from iPad to iPhoto !
Then in iMovie open (in Event's window) iPhoto-videor
Worked nicely.

I am talking about ipad air, NOT the mac . there are video clips in videos (built-in app) in my ipad but not in iphotos or camera roll/ library. how do u get them to imovie to make a project. there is no event window in it. thanks
