I am experimenting with turning off Find My iPhone on my iPhone 4S via iCloud. It doesn't work. Any advice?

I turned off my iPhone. I signed into iCloud.com. I clicked on "Find My iPhone". I got the message, "All Devices Offline". I clicked on "All Devices" and clicked on my iPhone 4s. I clicked on "Remove From Account". I clicked on "Remove". I lsigned out of iCloud.com. I turned on my iPhone and it is still Find My iPhone enabled. Why isn't this working?!?!? Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe you have to turn off the iPhone and back on AFTER you have removed the iPhone from your account.

I turned the iPhone off. I followed the instructions to disable the Find My iPhone via iCloud.com. When I turn the iPhone back on, Find My iPhone is still enabled. I've done this procedure three times and still no luck.

Leave the iPhone on. Then go into icloud.com and remove the iPhone from your account. Wait a few minutes. THen turn the iPhone off and back on.

Thanks for the responses guys. Still no luck though. My iPhone still has Find My iPhone enabled. I'll try both methods again. Has anyone had success with this? Any other suggestions?

Tried several more times and the Find My iPhone still won't disable using iCloud.com. Can anyone confirm they have been able to get this to work? And if so, how? Thanks.

What happens when you try to toggle Find My iPhone off in iCloud settings on the iPhone? Is it still asking for your Apple ID and your password and will not toggle off until you enter them or is it letting you toggle if off?

It asks for my Password only. It will not let me toggle it off unless I enter my password.

That's the way it works. Once the device come back online, it will reappear in Find My Phone. The ONLY way to remove is to either erase the device, or turn Find My Phone off, on the device itself.

So removing it from the account through iCloud.com does not work then unless the devise is erased? You have to erase it first and then remove it from the account? I am reading the KB articles correctly now?

Mr Paddock, i apologize, I was not reading the articles correctly I did not realize you had to erase the device to remove it from the account. Sorry about that.

Thanks wjosten and Rojmer for all the info provide so far. Continuing on. If I go to the iCloud I am given the option to click on "Find My iPhone" and then "Remove Drew's iPhone". I am Drew by the way. So what purpose is the "Remove Drew's iPhone"? I though by clicking on this, the Find My iPhone would then be disabled.
