Device not Found error with TC

Hello,

I'm having some rather frustrating issues with my relatively new 3TB TC. When it was set up initially it was literally plug and play, connected the cords, created a network and I was flying. A few months went by with no issues but I than needed to install a Airport Express and use it as a bridge. Still everything was fine. I than moved to a new house and the frustration began.

First off I have internet access over wifi and its pretty seamless. However now the light ont he TC keeps on blinking amber no matter what I do; the Express is green and seems to be working fine. I also cannot complete any backups to the device which is the reason that I bought the thing in the first place.

Currently I went through a re-set up in which I did a hard restart on both items and now the Express is still fine but the TC shows up as "Device not Found."

I realize that its a relatively small issue but its driving me freaking nuts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to tell us a bit more.

I need to know..

1. What modem do you have, make and model please? Type of broadband, eg cable, fibre, adsl?

2. How is the TC connected to the modem? I hope ethernet to the TC wan port??

3. What mode is the modem, ie is it router or modem with no routing?

4. Same for TC, what mode is it in?

5. How does the express connect? ethernet or wireless.. and to what?

6. What OS and utility are you running to do the setup?

If the TC is flashing amber, what does the airport utility show is the problem?

Any screenshots you can provide really help. From the airport utility a shot of the summary page.. plus the internet, wireless and network tabs mean we can figure out far more than most of your description.

Hello - Sorry for the delay. Its been a very hectic couple of weeks for me.

1. the modem is an Arris TG862 from Xfinity (Comcast)

2. yes the modem is connected directly to the TC via ethernet (to the wan port)

3/4. the modem functions only as a modem - I use the TC as the router

5. the express connects via wifi - functions as a bridge to my computer and VoIP phone

6. I don't know the answer to this question

the TC is flashing amber and it has 3 notifications

1. Double NAT

2. Firmware update available

3. conflicting DHCP Range

pic of the airport utility screen attached for the TC and for the express.

the frustrsting part for me is that my internet works but its become "bogged down" over the last couple of days.

I can't seem to find the where exactly the other utility you are asking for is located. Sorry I'm kind of a novice at this.

Thanks!

You modem is actually a router.

So you have the TC in the wrong mode..

3/4. the modem functions only as a modem - I use the TC as the router

No, you have this setup wrongly.

Go back in and set the TC to bridge.. off bridge mode on the Network tab.

And create a wireless nework on the wireless tab.

Then redo the setup of the Express.. that should fix it up.
