Just couple a days ago my Magsafe adapter was working fine, but recently it just stopped working. I tried cleaning the magsafe port & the connector using a tooth brush but it still didn't work.
I would appreciate any ideas on how to resolve this issue!

Try another adapter. If your machine is under Applecare, so is the charger. Take the MBP and the charger in to the Genius Bar for a free eval.

Did you check if the spring loaded pins in the adapter connection were free?
Did you try a SMC reset?

Occasionally the led light may be out but the power adapter may still be functional.
