i am running snopw leopard its an old computer but works fine and it always has to be hard reset to restart whihc i hate doing but no other way to wake it up....r SMU already so what else ?

Restart the computer holding down the command - option/alt - P - R keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime for the second time.
