my iMac does not recognize mac mini
I tried to migrate my (2009) imac's data to my (2012) Mac Mini.
The Mac Mini picks up the iMac fine, but the Imac is not detecting the Mac Mini.
Their runnung the same OS versions

Please explain what you mean by "The Mac Mini picks up the iMac fine, but the Imac is not detecting the Mac Mini."...in other words what are you attempting to do. If you are attempting to migrate from the iMac to the MM then simply connect the iMac's Time Machine backup and run Migration Assistant (Applications - Utilities - Migration Assistant) and migrate from the TM drive.
