Mac Mail Doesn't Archive On To Mac

Hi Mac-World,

I'm currently using Maverick and I've hit my iCloud storage limit so need to either delete or archive my emails.

I've set up my folder to save onto my Mac hard drive, but everytime I drag/move my emails to the new folder, they disappear but don't end up moving into the assigned folder.

I then click onto my main inbox again, and the emails have returned.

I'm not sure if it's an issue with Maverick, my Mail App, or my whole iCloud is screwed, but it's forced me to set up a temporary gmail account, which is frustrating!

Also, this issue has nothing to do with Gmail, as I've read about the Gmail/Maverick problems...

Can someone help?? Should a simple detete and re-download of the Mac Mail App help?

Did you create a new On My Mac mailbox in the Mail app, then drag the email from the iCloud account to your new mailbox? Follow the instructions in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5767. Also, you may need to move a few hundred messages at a time; trying to move too many at once can sometimes cause it to hang.

Hi,

Yes, I've tried all of that.

I created the folder ('On My Mac'), then tried different combinations of moving the emails, such at around 1000 at a time, 100 at a time, 50, and 20..the same issue keeps happening.

I know when you hit your storage limit a lock is placed on sending or receiving email until sufficient storage is restored. Perhaps this applies to archiving email too (i.e., the entire email account is locked and inaccessible). Just a thought...

Yeh, maybe.

Stopping me from archiving to free up space so I have to pay for more storage sounds just about right...

If it were me, I'd contact iCloud support and ask: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/. If you are outside of your free support window there would normally be a charge but you could plead your case that you should be charged as you are trying to follow their instructions to reduce your iCloud storage.
