i asked to those who can know. Macbook pro mid 2012 can use an old hdd cable , but the inverse is not possible , i would like a confirmation that all will be good and there is no impact on performances

I doubt you'll find anyone that's done that. Why bother? It makes more sense to just order the correct one for your machine. If the part numbers are different, there's a difference in the cable. Not to mention an older cable may not be rated for SATA 3, which means you'll have problems. Your best bet is to just order the right one.
yes you are right , but i already have one for i5 laptop,that's why i want to use it , and indeed it works,with ssd , my macbook pro runs after 21 seconds , and i guess if i use the correct one , it will be less than that.(Both are A1278 model)
Right. But your older one may be running at SATA 2 speeds rather than SATA 3 of a 2012 MBP. If you're determined to try it, try it. You may have problems though.
