Q: Mavericks vs older iMacs

I am a newbie pc to mac and I am trying to understand something I hope someone can clarify for me...be prepared probably a stupid question lol

Ok so I am on the lookout to purchase an older iMac to replace my WinXP pc before April 8th deadline! Falling in love with my recently purchased macbook I have decided I am not going to purchase a win8 pc to replace it rather I want an older iMac (can not afford newer models right now). There are so many options yr, ram, hd, monitor sz, and of course OS. So here is where I get confused:

I want an older iMac with Mavericks. I want Mavericks; to have the latest OS, Airplay/mirror, iCloud, sync all devices together, and also to have better app choices! There are the most important features I want.

So if I get say a 2008-2010/11 iMac, and it comes with Mavericks am I automatically getting those features I want because it has Mavericks on it? Or no, I won't because the later models (even if I have Mavericks) may not be equipped to have them/some of them?

If it is the latter....how or where do I find out which model is equipped/not equipped for these features?

Thanks in Advance for your replies!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 13" MC516LL/A 7,1 Intel Core2Duo

Refurbished Apple hardware is treated like new and comes with the first year of AppleCare free, then within the first year of ownership and free AppleCare, you can purchase and register  the addiitional 2 more years of extended AppleCare on a refurbished Mac.

You must pay for the extended warranty before your free year is up and you have to the day before your last dat of free AppleCare to do this. Once you miss this window, you will NOT be able to purchase or register for the extended warranty program.

So, if you have issues with a refurb Mac, you can covered for repairs for 3 Years.

As far as your old Micrsoft office application is concerned, once you are running OS X Mavericks, you can purchase new versions of Office, get the recent Apple iWorks apps or try free, open source office apps, Libre Office, Open Office, Neo Office
