Bootable Disk

I downloaded an .iso copy of Windows XP SP2 from my collge, and I want to burn it to a bootable copy so I can install it like a normal copy of Windows XP. I want to burn it, and use it in Parallels, but I can only burn it as a file not a bootable version. Also does it have to be put on a CD or can I use a DVD? Thanks

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.7), 17"
