itunes match not working

Hi,

my itunes match is not working. I want to upload three albums and itunes match is only doing the first step but not actually uploading or matching the songs. On my iphone I can see the albums but they are shown grayed out.

What is going wrong?

Thanks,

Hi,

where can I select update itunes Match (mac)? -> Found it!

I receive the error that "the genius results cannot be updated. An unknown error occured (-8753).

When I do the second suggestion, will everything uploaded still be there? I have read some things that you can delete your itunes Match somehow, but I dont know if it was this procedure.

Thanks

I'm new to the Apple Community forums and don't know exactly what the number of points by a person's name means, but I must say that I agree with Jimzgoldfinch's number being high since his advice about clearing the cache was the magic ingredient that helped me resolve my iMatch mis-match issues!

I had a few false starts, because iMatch kept refusing to part with some old playlists. Here is the sequence that finally worked for me:

1. Made sure I had a good backup of my iMac music library on Time Capsule and took the added precaution of copying the .itl file as another backup. Because I have had problems with iMatch getting out of sync before and one horrible time had to rebuild all of my playlists, I periodically save a PDF of each of my key playlists so I will have the song lists in case my other backups fail.

2. Turned off iMatch on my iMac - but didn't hold down the control key since that is what I consider the host of all of our music and where I want my playlists to be pulled from.

3. Turned off iMatch on my iPad and iPhone. Looked at each and confirmed the playlists had been cleared completely.

4. Held down the control key while turning off iMatch on the MacAir to clear the cache.

5. With all devices logged out of iMatch so that none of them could send their versions of playlists to the cloud, turned on iMatch on the iMac.

6. Turned on iMatch on the MacAir - and there were the matching playlists !!

7. Turned on iMatch on the iPhone - all of the playlists are showing up and, after an hour or so, most of the numbers of songs within each playlist match the iMac. A few are off by a small amount, so it either hasn't been long enough for the process to complete or it may be knocking out a songs that are duplicated due to being on more than one album.

8. Turned on iMatch on the iPad - it's still updating, but I can tell that the correct playlists are showing up.

If anyone from Apple is monitoring this discussion, it would be great if you could add the step of clearing the cache to the Apple troubleshooting information. That was where I started my search for a fix and the articles/information I found in the Support section didn't mention the cache reset.
