My daughter has already signed into the app store on a different user on my mac . When I go to download or update apps on my user, I cannot do this because her apple ID has saved to the app store for the whole computer. As I do not know her password, I am unable to update/download apps. I also cannot change the email address when doing this
Please can someone help me remove her apple ID so that I can put mine in?

This seemed logical to me so instead of clicking "Update All", I tried each update one at a time. I was able to update all except one. That's the one that my son purchased with his Apple ID that was embedded into the apple ID field. Thank you for the helpful information.
That isn't what is happening. You are trying to update apps that she bought. They are registered to her and have her Apple ID encoded into the licensed copy on the Mac. No other Apple ID can update apps that are hers, even if she has allowed them to be used by others with accounts on the Mac.
Sorry but all I want to do is change the email address to mine ,sign in in my name and receive the updates . I think in this day and age this should be a simple and straight forward job?
It is not whether it is straight forward or possible, it is that this is the security system in place to prevent both piracy of software and hacking of accounts.
Whose computer is it? Who set it up? Whose account has Administration privileges on this Mac? The Mac, OS X, the pre-installed software can only belong to one person, regardless of how many of you have user accounts on the Mac. It is only this one user who can update the software.
I am having the same issue and it is my computer, I set it up and have the administration privleges. However, it brings up my wife's apple ID for updating and I can not change it.
Does her account also have admin privileges? If so, she appears to have bought an app and if so, only she can update it.
I will find out. Let's say that is the solution, will I need to have her update all future updates?
Yes, only she can update content that she buys. Her Apple ID is encoded into the licensed copy that has been downloaded to your Mac. It is part of Apple's anti-piracy scheme.
Didnt help, would not use her apple ID, now I am changing my personal apple ID password and we will see what happens
