on my iphone3 when i go to the app store, then updates and then to purchased, all my old apps are listed with the icloud symbol next to them, how do i delete these?
You can't delete them as they are stored in the App store. Those are just links to your previous purchases in case you ever want to download them again. You can hide them from view if you want by hiding them in iTunes on your computer. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.
